Evolution indeed!

My Humble Follower has indeed done some serious research at the mystical library and the results are evident. The picture he has painted is both humorous and ironic. The mortal worldly beings often claim they have evolved, that they are civilized human beings, and that they would even like to end poverty in the world. End poverty? Are you sure?

From where we the holy mystical beings sit, our humble followers observed about 13 years ago that Europe smoked and drank US$155 Billion whereas those trying to look prettier than their predecessors sprinkled their faces with 8 billion dollars in cosmetics in the United States, and the world blew almost 800 billion dollars in military spending. And all of this happened in only one year. While it was estimated that basic education, water and sanitation for all in all developing countries will require about 15 billion additional dollars, the Europe and United States alone spent 17 billion dollars on pet foods.

The amount the mortal beings inject each year in military spending and in defense industry to develop ever more lethal weapons to destroy and kill ever more mortal beings is phenomenal especially when viewed within the context of what gets spent on education or in the so-called effort to end poverty worldwide. Military and defense industry are a dangerous mix of power and money and no one has so far shown interest in walking away from it. As a result, the innocent blood flows freely in the streets of many countries around the world.

Survival of the fittest is what is claimed in the field of evolution and the fittest today are a few hundred major corporations that control almost three quarters of all international trade. Perhaps the control exercised by these corporations exceeds that of many governments in terms of what decisions are made globally.

At this stage of evolution, the worldly beings have shown remarkable prowess and success in technological development, the question remains if it has enough humanity to evolve into better human beings and to eventually doing what is needed to rise above personal vested interests and to make a true difference in the lives of those who are less fortunate.

There exists a fine line between mortality and immortality. Any takers?
